So Marc and I were fooling around on the couch, he found the lump. I waited one month just to make sure. We were watching mtv when a 25yr year old girl came on, telling her story of breast cancer. Marc became very persistent with me so off we went to emergency. The ER doctor sent out the referral, the next day I had an ultrasound.
The ultrasound is cold and gooey. My breast was covered in a lubricant so that the wand can be moved around more easily. It was not painful just a bit cold and wet after. It wasn't until the doctor came in and re did the ultrasound that I began to wonder about things. He then let me know that they found two lumps. One was irregular in shape so I was then shipped off for an immediate mammogram and scheduled to have a biopsy five days later.
The mammogram is not fun however it was funny. Marc came with me. The nurse tells you to take off your top and then she comes toward you holding a band-aid! She puts the band-aids over your nipples and informs you that they are your nipple markers! Way to funny. Mine were flower band-aids that had one little metal ball barring right in the centre. Then she placed my breast in the compressor and basically presses it down until it hurt. Then she stops and takes the x-ray. She did this four times, twice on each breast. After that I went to the waiting room and of course had to flash Marc because the band-aids were hilarious! Now we got to go home.
